Winners: Fishguard YFC, Pembrokeshire

Fishguard YFC's commitment to community work during the 2022-23 membership year has been truly remarkable. They kicked off with a 'Recycle & Reuse Sport Shoes Appeal' in response to high child poverty rates in Pembrokeshire. The club donated 43 pairs of trainers to local primary schools and a rugby club, allowing families to participate in sports.

The club's dedication continued with a successful coffee morning, benefiting Wales Air Ambulance and Fishguard YFC Hall Construction. The club supported a local Apple Fair, attended the County Harvest Festival, and generously donated a fruit and vegetable hamper.

During the festive season, Fishguard YFC was extremely active. They hosted a Christmas Bingo, Christmas Dog Walk, and participated in various Carol Services. They also initiated a heart warming project called 'Hampers for Emergency Services,' crafting food and drink hampers as tokens of appreciation for local emergency service providers.

Fishguard YFC organised a concert to raise funds for their chosen charity and showcase its Half an Hour Entertainment Talent, where members performed and also served soup.

The club later hosted a pub quiz and an Easter Bingo for the community. Over Easter, they distributed gift bundles to five care homes in their community, including homemade treats and flowers to brighten residents' days.

The club's involvement extended to local schools and institutions. Members volunteered at their local Urdd Eisteddfod and took part in community projects like painting, fence repairs, willow weaving, and litter pick-ups.

They even painted Fishguard Fire Station, emphasising the club's commitment to community improvement and donated a trophy to a secondary school to present to a GCSE Agricultural Student during their prize giving evening.

The club has truly made a difference in the community by offering time, skills, and support where needed, It places great importance on teamwork, recognising the community work wouldn't be possible without the dedication of its members, leaders, parents, and friends.

The impressive range of community projects and events has earned positive feedback, media recognition, and local accolades.

Fishguard YFC's commitment to its community shines through in the innovative projects and the club's willingness to help in any way it can. This is a club that is truly at the heart of its community.

This club puts community front and centre in all its endeavours. Their generosity went above and beyond – not only were they raising money, but they were also willing to put the time and effort into improving the lives of those around them with innovative ideas.
