Seven of the best junior YFC members will be vying for the title of Junior Member of the Year on Competitions Day 2025 in July.
Judges will have the difficult task of choosing between the finalists who will each need to give a presentation and have a formal interview.
All of the finalists from each Area of the Federation have worked hard to make it to the national final. Find out more about them.
Lincolnshire
My name is Ben, I'm 17 years old and I'm a member of Louth YFC in the Lincolnshire county.
I've been a member of Young Farmers for six years now, and my proudest achievement in the YFC year this year was becoming the Youth Forum Chair for the County of Lincolnshire.
The Youth Forum has boosted Juniors meeting up together all over the county and making really good friendships all round.
What makes being in YFC so special for me is that the community that it brings together, the work it can get you. And just how YFC can really boost people's confidence and social skills all round. And that's why YFC is very, very special.
Somerset
Hi, I'm Grace and I'm proud to be part of Somerset Young Farmers. I first joined YFC four years ago at the age of ten, and it's been an incredible journey ever since.
One of my biggest highlights of this past year was the annual YFC club show. It's such a special event that truly brings together the past and the future of Young Farmers, and being a part of it is always an amazing experience. To top it off, winning the All Round Member Cup that evening at my club’s Dinner and Dance was an incredible achievement and an honour that I will always be proud of.
What makes being a part of YFC so special to me is the community that it builds. My great grandparents, grandparents, and parents were all a part of my YFC club before me, so being a member feels like continuing a legacy. But beyond that, the experiences, friendship, and support that I've received through YFC have made such a massive impact in my life.
These past four years have been full of unforgettable moments, and I know that there's still so much more to come. Being a part of Young Farmers is more than just a club. It's a true celebration of agriculture and the people who make it special. The opportunities I've had here have been incredible, and they've shaped me into the person I am today. I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Worcestershire
Hello, my name is Alanie and I'm a member of Abberley Young Farmers in Worcestershire. I've been a member for the past eight years after I first joined in 2017.
My proudest achievement in Young Farmers this year has to be when, in my floral art competition at our county rally, I was awarded with the most outstanding floral display overall. Not only is this an amazing achievement alone, it's also giving me the opportunity to compete at the National Floral Art finals for the second year running.
The reason I picked this as my proudest achievement is I'm now in the position to help and support others the way I was supported during my first time trying to compete at a national competition.
Additionally, Young Farmers is special for me, as there's no other feeling like having to explain to someone why you’re dressed in a 70s disco dancing costume with five-inch heels, wearing a white coat with a shirt and tie on a Sunday afternoon, walking around Tesco. This shows just some of the diversity that Young Farmers offers and shows that Young Farmers really is for everyone.
I know myself, eight years ago when I first joined, I was far too scared to talk to anyone—too scared to do stock judging or talk to two judges. But here I am now, eight years later, performing on a stage in front of hundreds of people. And from being a member of Young Farmers, you soon realise that people are laughing with you and not at you. I really believe that is why Young Farmers is so special for me.
Cumbria
Hello, my name is Molly. I am 15 years of age and I attend Furness Young Farmers in the county of Cumbria, where I have done for the past three years.
My proudest achievement within the last 12 months is undoubtedly the Furness YFC Charity Christmas Song, raising money for RABI and our club. The camaraderie between not only the members that were involved, but also the local businesses and the farming community, was unbelievable, and the support we received was unprecedented.
Young Farmers is so important to me because I believe there is no other organisation that offers the things that Young Farmers does — support, friendships, inclusivity, and most importantly, life skills. I just love YFC.
Bedfordshire
This year, I’ve had some amazing opportunities through Young Farmers, each offering new experiences and unforgettable memories. But my true highlight isn’t a single event — it’s the inclusive, supportive atmosphere that defines every meeting, competition, and gathering that has really stood out to me this year.
From the beginning, being in a mixed group of juniors and seniors was intimidating, but I quickly learned that everyone is there for the same reason: to learn, grow, and support one another.
No one tries to show off or hold back knowledge — instead, they lift you up and guide you. Young Farmers has given me more than just skills; it’s given me a community that genuinely cares. That support, more than anything, has made this year unforgettable as well as being part of the YFC community so special for me.
I wouldn’t be the person I am today without the organisation and the people within it. These people truly are like family to me, and without them and Young Farmers as a whole, I certainly would not be the person that I am today.
Ceredigion
My name is Rhodri Jenkins. I'm a member of Mydroilyn YFC in Ceredigion, Wales and have been for the past eight years of my life since joining when I was ten, to do the Cookery competition in the Rally.
The proudest moment for me over the past year was winning the junior member competition on Wales level. YFC is so special to me due to the friends I've made through the county and through the country, and the experiences and opportunities I have gained and developed as a person living in rural Wales.
Berkshire
Hi, my name is Flo and I've been a member of Newbury Young Farmers in Berkshire for the past five years now.
My proudest Young Farmers moment of the past year has probably been getting the most overall points at the county show because of all the hard work that I put in beforehand and on the day.
What makes Young Farmers so special to me is all the different opportunities. I've been all over the country doing competitions and different types of training, and it sounds really cliché, but I've met so many amazing people that I wouldn't have otherwise met.
