Alex McMenemy - elections

What is your highest achievement in YFC?

Being trusted by members to serve as County Durham YFC County Chair for almost two and a half years. Equally, seeing younger members grow in confidence and step into leadership roles during that time has been incredibly rewarding.

Why do you want to be elected to the role?

YFC has given me so much over the years, and I want to continue giving back at a national level, helping to support and strengthen the organisation for current and future members.

What skills will you bring to this role?

I bring a strong, ground-level understanding of YFC and its members, alongside enthusiasm, approachability and a genuine passion for the organisation. I am committed to keeping NFYFC relevant, member-led and future-focused - I’m truly a member’s member.

What is the biggest challenge - and the biggest opportunity - facing YFC?

Retention of senior members is one of our biggest challenges. However, this also presents a major opportunity: by listening to our membership and offering something for everyone, we can keep members engaged and ensure they continue to benefit from everything YFC offers.

Why should Council vote for you?

Having had the privilege of serving as Vice Chair this past year, I would be delighted to continue in the role, building on the experience and knowledge gained. I care deeply about YFC and will always represent members with integrity, enthusiasm and their best interests at heart.

Elections take place on 22 February 2026. Your Council representative will be given a vote at the meeting.
