Niall Evans elections

What is your highest achievement in YFC?

Being elected to Chair the Board of Rural Youth Europe as well as Chair of Brecknock.

Why you want to be elected to the role?

I have more to offer to the organisation. It has provided me with numerous opportunities, and I believe this is one way of me paying it back. Over the years I have been involved at all levels of YFC and seen the time and dedication that officers have put in and it would be an honour to follow them.

What skills will you bring to this role?

When I was the Chair of Rural Youth Europe, I was involved in the day to day running of an International rural youth organisation which provided me with the skills to take on any role within YFC. I have experience with HR, financial management and working within a team that is spread wide geographically.

What is the biggest challenge - and the biggest opportunity – facing YFC?

The biggest challenge facing YFC is keeping senior members within the organisation, and the extra burdens placed on officers at all levels, especially at club level.

The average membership age is getting younger year on year at an increasing rate and we need to find a way to keep members through to 28. The biggest opportunity that I see is the development of our members.

I am aware people have their own reasons for being part of YFC, and that makes us unique. Whether it’s because of competitions, training, international travel or something else, members develop new skills through YFC, which is great on the CV.

How will you represent YFC members across England and Wales?

I like to be seen. To fully represent all members, I feel it is important to get out and meet members of all ages to understand the issues that are affecting them.

By gaining a full understanding of the issues, it will allow us to progress and get views heard across the organisation.

I have always been vocal when needed and been willing to speak out to support the views of people I have represented. I have never been afraid to stand up for the members and whether the opinion is popular or not it doesn’t worry me as that is my job to make sure that the views are heard.

Why should Council vote for you?

Members of the NFYFC council should vote for me for a number of reasons.

  1. I have six years of experience of being on the NFYFC Council.
  2. I have spent time understanding the running of the organisation from top to bottom and developing my skills to get me to this point.
  3. I am always willing to stand up for members at all levels and make sure that their voices are heard.
  4. I have experience of taking on positions at all levels and working with members from other organisations to bring different ideas to the table and help move the Federation forward.
  5. I am always approachable and easy to discuss issues with.
  6. As much as we need to be formal at times, I believe a lot is learned through informal discussions and sharing ideas around how best to develop the organisation that we all hold dear.

Elections take place on 22 February 2026. Your Council representative will be given a vote at the meeting.
