Save 50% on sheep shearing training

YFC members can save 50% on shearing training with British Wool, thanks to a partnership between The National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs (NFYFC) and British Wool.

This will be the sixth year British Wool has worked with NFYFC to offer the discount and this year it has been expanded to include all young farmers, regardless of experience or previous training.

YFC members can now save 50% on British Wool machine and blade shearing courses for the duration of their membership. In previous years, the offer only included the opportunity to attend a beginner shearing course if this was the first time they had taken a course.

Course fees

The courses cost £200 (+VAT) but after the exclusive YFC discount, members will only pay £100 (+VAT) if they register before 31 March 2024.

YFC members can also get a discount on the British Wool wool handling course – which is discounted to £50 (+VAT) instead of the usual price of £60 (+VAT).

Excellent fleece presentation is key in ensuring wool is presented correctly and to a high standard.

Richard Schofield, Shearing Manager at British Wool, said:

“We are once again delighted to be working with NFYFC in extending our training offer to all young farmers. Supporting the training and development of the next generation of shearers is important to us at British Wool and we feel very proud in the quantity and quality of shearers and wool handlers we have here in the UK.

“We look forward to welcoming young farmers onto our courses once again this year and encourage any interested YFC member to contact the NFYFC before the 31 March closing date.”

British Wool and NFYFC have enjoyed a strong relationship and collaborated on initiatives over the years to help improve industry standards.

The British Wool discount is an amazing offer for members of Young Farmers’ Clubs. We are proud to be working with British Wool and helping to improve shearing standards.

It’s important to NFYFC to ensure everyone in our national final has at least a Blue Seal qualification and it’s even better news that anyone can now take part in shearing training, regardless of their experience in the industry.
