Katy Walsh, from Warwickshire YFC, joined 15 other YFC members in October to visit Iceland with YFC Travel on a Field Farms Tour trip. Their icy adventure to the south of the Arctic Circle has inspired Katy to apply for more YFC Travel trips in 2026
A: Not really! I think a lot of the organising is taken care of with YFC Travel, which makes it so much easier.
A: It was great because you’re going with people who are just like you. You meet so many different people from all over, and it’s really nice to make memories with people you wouldn’t normally see.
Going with people who have different perspectives helps you view things in a new light.
A: One of my highlights was going behind a waterfall. The noise it makes is incredible — I can’t even explain it, you’d have to see it yourself.
A: We visited a lot of farms, a wool museum, numerous waterfalls, national parks, and the Blue Lagoon, which was a firm favourite. It was also really informative to see how agriculture works in another country.
A: Yes! I’ve made friends for life, and we’re already talking about applying for trips next year.
A: Before Iceland, I’d never been on a YFC Travel trip, and now I cannot recommend it enough. I think everybody should go.
YFC Travel trips are open for applications until 29 October 2025.
